What have I learned from life?
The first thing that I have to say is that life has taught me that I haven’t stopped learning.
It’s sort of like a kaleidoscope. As you go through life, you add pieces to it and turn. New patterns emerge. While you often have choices in what pieces you choose, you sometimes have to accept some patterns you don’t like. You make bad choices and terrible results may emerge.
While you may want to create a certain pattern, you don’t know it will come out the way you want it until you turn. The good part is that you can still add more pieces and sometimes get rid of the bad ones, turn some more and things will usually work out.
Sometimes there are parts you would like to add, but they just don’t seem to be available. Some pieces you can go and get; others can only be given and if they are not given, you just can’t use them, that’s all, so you turn your kaleidoscope anyway. Sometimes pieces are taken away, even though you want to keep them. Again, you keep turning.
Some people turn faster than others, but if you don’t turn and stay with the same pattern all the time, you don’t really get what a kaleidoscope is all about.
Some are content to only put a few pieces in their kaleidoscope. Others want to cram it full – it can get bigger. Regardless, looking at the image is more fun if you have others to share it with. First you have to consider the image worth sharing, and then you have to give it, not expecting people to show you their kaleidoscopes. They may; they may not. You can’t make them, but the important thing is to share your images. And if you are very lucky, you will choose to let some people add pieces to your kaleidoscope.
Eventually you become too tired to turn anymore. One final pattern is left, but, hopefully, so are the memories of all the other patterns you shared with others.

I love this amusing, picturesque allegory! Using a kaleidoscope is fantastic imagery!
Your last paragraph brought a tear to my eye:
"Eventually you become too tired to turn anymore. One final pattern is left, but, hopefully, so are the memories of all the other patterns you shared with others."
Hope that day is far in the future. But since we never know when we'll stop turning ... let's make everyday a kaleidoscope day ... enjoy our own and share ours with others and enjoy viewing other's kaleidoscopes!!!
