On a dull, snowy morning in Ontario, I thought this might lighten the mood a bit.
Last year I took an course to learn how to teach English as a second language. Part of it was the usage of the verbs could have, would have and should have and the difference among them. From that lesson came this poem.
Could’a, would’a, should’a
I didn’t listen to my heart
Could’a, would’a, should’a
I have loved you from the start
Even though my head kept telling me
That the timing was not right
Still I could’a, would’a, should’a,
And I’d have you with me tonight.
Could’a, would’a, should’a
I think of you every day
Could’a, would’a, should’a
I search for the perfect words to say
That my love for you grows stonger
It increases every day
And I could’a, would’a, should’a
‘Cause this feeling won’t go away
Could’a, would’a, should’a
Sure it may seem rather strange
Could’a, would’a, should’a
Perhaps there’s something we can arrange
We can have a new beginning
We can get together somehow
Then our could’a, would’a, should’a
Will be happening right now.
